Ottawa, IL – May 15, 2024 – The Ottawa Downtown Association is thrilled to announce “A Victorian Haunting: A Taste of Ottawa and Its Spirits,” a unique event set to take place on October 19, 2024. This enchanting evening will combine the rich history and eerie charm of the Victorian Era with the city’s vibrant culinary and craft beverage scene.

Event Details:

  • Time: 4-7 PM
  • Location: Various locations throughout downtown Ottawa

Guests will embark on a hauntingly delightful journey throughout downtown Ottawa, experiencing Victorian Parlor-themed events, such as tarot card and palm readings, aura photography, and more, while savoring exquisite local cuisine and spirits. Participating restaurants will feature curated tastings, while bars will offer hand-crafted cocktails, highlighting the best of the city’s culinary creativity and craft beverages.

Highlights of the Evening:

  • Victorian-Themed Ambiance: Step back in time with entertainment inspired by the Victorian era, creating an immersive and atmospheric experience.
  • Gourmet Tastings: Indulge in a variety of dishes crafted by Ottawa’s top chefs and artisanal spirits developed by award-winning mixologists.
  • Enhanced Experiences: Guests can enhance their event with optional event add-ons, including ghost tours or a special screening of a fan-favorite movie!

Tickets for “A Victorian Haunting: A Taste of Ottawa and Its Spirits” will be available soon. All proceeds will support the association’s efforts to promote and enhance downtown Ottawa.

RPS Toys Takes the Crown in First Annual “Deck the Windows” Competition

The victor of the inaugural “Deck the Windows” competition has been unveiled. With an overwhelming response from the community, RPS Toys emerges as the undisputed champion, amassing an impressive 1,484 votes out of more than 2,600 cast.

The spirited event, organized by the Ottawa Downtown Association, transformed our downtown into a wonderland of holiday cheer, showcasing the imaginative and festive window displays of numerous downtown businesses.

RPS Toys seized the hearts and votes of the public with a creative and captivating window exhibit that encapsulated the essence of the season, earning them the coveted title of the top display.

“We are thrilled and honored to be recognized as the winner of the First Annual ‘Deck the Windows’ competition,” said Sue Vandervort, owner of RPS Toys. “This achievement really reflects the hard work and dedication of all the downtown businesses in creating a magical experience for everyone.”

The Ottawa Downtown Association will be gifting Sue a “Dinner’s on Us!” prize, including dinner at The Lone Buffalo.
