OTTAWA, IL — The Ottawa Downtown Association, in partnership with the City of Ottawa and Garden’s Gate Garden Center, is thrilled to launch a brand-new holiday tradition in downtown Ottawa — the Community Christmas Tree Program!
Washington Square Park will be filled with 80 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each adopted and adorned by members of our community. Families, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and local groups are all invited to participate in this festive celebration by decorating their tree in the heart of downtown.
Trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and proceeds from tree sponsorships will directly benefit the Community Food Basket of Ottawa, spreading holiday cheer far beyond the park.
“We’re so excited to introduce this new tradition to downtown Ottawa,” said Heather Pursley, Vice President of the Ottawa Downtown Association. “It’s a joyful way to kick off the season, showcase community creativity, and support a great local cause. I have done memorial trees at Brookfield Zoo in the past, and they were a wonderful way to bring my family together to honor and remember our loved ones who’ve passed. I am thrilled to help bring a similar program to downtown Ottawa this holiday season.”
